
Wish Granting Makes the initial visit to each child to talk to him/her about his/her special wish, and assists the family in filling out the necessary forms to initiate the wish granting process. These volunteers also have the all-important task of creating the magic in the fulfillment of a child's wish. One or two volunteers are designated as "wish coordinators" for each wish. These volunteers arrange every detail to ensure that the child's wish is a fulfilling and carefree experience for the entire family.
Fund Raising / Special Events Ensures adequate funding for the granting of all wishes. Works on internal and external events: on-going solicitation for individual, groups, and corporate donations, April Foolish, Keiki Triathlon, and other special events held throughout the year.
Speaker's Bureau Arranges and conducts special presentations to various groups who have expressed an interest in Make-A-Wish. Speaks on behalf of the Foundation to service groups, corporate boards, foundation directors, health groups, civic and business organizations, etc. The presentation may include the distribution of literature, a short speech, a videotape viewing and a question and answer period.
Graphic Design & Writing Helps with newsletters, annual reports, brochures, & event materials.
Historian Updates photo and scrap albums, catalogs negatives and videos.
Office Assistant Data entry for mailing list and donor list. Wish granting support, bulk mailings, thank you notes, sympathy notes.
Computer Assistant Advises wish-granting volunteers on the fulfillment of computer wishes, sets up computers and gives short tutorials to wish children.
Media and Public Relations Assistant Sees to it that Make-A-Wish is a visible, well-respected organization in the community. Responsibilities include media coverage for special events and wishes (when appropriate), public service announcements, advertising and literature.
