Make-A-Wish Foundation of Hawai'i

The purpose of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Hawaii is to grant the wish of each child between the ages of 2 ½ and 18 who has a life-threatening medical condition, (i.e., a progressive, degenerative or malignant medical condition that has placed the child's life in jeopardy.)

The wish of each youngster is uniquely different reflecting his or her own dream and imagination. Whether the child wishes to take a trip to visit a relative or meet a favorite celebrity, to have a computer or to spend a few wonderful days in the Magic Kingdom, Make-A-Wish® does everything possible to ensure that wish becomes a reality and that the experience is one that the entire family will forever remember and cherish.

After waiting nearly a year, Shan was finally able to have her wish...to meet her favorite player, Kobe Bryant and to see her beloved Lakers play in Staples Center. Shan and her family enjoyed their first mainland vacation in style. They not only got to meet Kobe and see the Lakers play, but experienced Universal Studios and neighboring Hollywood. In a touching thank you letter, Shan wrote, "I cry with tears of joy because (the wish) has made me believe in myself again. I believe that I can start my life and live it the way it was."
